Harry Schuster Service Award
Many of you are lucky enough to remember Harry Schuster. He was a founding member of APLD and well known and loved for his energy, enthusiasm, sense of humor and zest for life. Harry was a mentor to many of us and seemed to have a boundless endurance when it came to recruiting members for APLD™. Unfortunately, Harry lost his life suddenly on the brink of his retirement. In his honor, APLD™ as created the HARRY SCHUSTER SERVICE AWARD. This award is presented each year to a person who most reflects the enthusiasm and selfless efforts to further APLD that Harry displayed for many years.
Award of Distinction
In 1994, APLD® initiated its Award of Distinction. This award is presented to a landscape designer, whether or not they are a member of APLD, to recognize that individual's contribution to the profession of landscape design.
Landscape Design Awards Program
APLD's prestigious landscape design awards program is in its fifth year. Members and non-members alike enter this program to earn national coverage, the chance at free APLD conference registration and industry recognition. Each entry is judged on the following criteria: Effectiveness of presentation; functionality of design elements; suitability of plant material; relationship to site; environmental responsibility; effective integration of plans and hardscapes; originality and creativity; design's affect on maintenance, current and future; and, overall impression.
